Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Bosun mobile application or any associated website or service (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User" or "you") and Bosun ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). Use of the Service by any person under the age of 18 is not permitted without parental consent.
Description of Service
Bosun is an AI-powered boat maintenance tracking application that allows users to:
- Upload boat and equipment manuals in PDF format
- Extract and organise maintenance tasks, intervals, and service schedules from those documents
- Track engine hours, usage cycles, and maintenance history
- Receive reminders and alerts for upcoming or overdue maintenance tasks
The Service is intended as a personal organisational and reference tool. It does not replace professional marine advice, manufacturer guidance, or statutory safety inspections.
Informational Use Only
Bosun is not a licensed marine engineer, naval architect, mechanic, or safety authority. All content generated by the Service — including maintenance schedules, task descriptions, intervals, parts lists, cost estimates, and any other output — is provided for general informational and organisational purposes only.
You acknowledge that:
- Maintenance requirements vary by vessel, engine, usage conditions, and applicable regulations
- AI-extracted data may contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations
- You are solely responsible for verifying all maintenance tasks against original manufacturer documentation
- All maintenance work should be performed by, or under the supervision of, a qualified marine professional where appropriate
- The Service does not account for modifications, unusual wear, damage, or conditions specific to your vessel
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Bosun and its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and service providers shall not be liable for any:
- Damage to, or loss of, any vessel, equipment, or property
- Personal injury or death arising from use of, or reliance on, the Service
- Engine failure, mechanical breakdown, or vessel malfunction
- Missed, incorrect, or incomplete maintenance tasks
- Costs of repair, salvage, towing, or any associated marine services
- Loss of revenue, loss of use, or consequential losses of any kind
- Indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or exemplary damages
This limitation applies whether the claim is based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damage.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

User Responsibilities
You agree that you are solely responsible for:
- All decisions made based on information provided by the Service
- Ensuring your vessel is maintained in a safe and seaworthy condition
- Complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and manufacturer requirements relating to your vessel
- Verifying that any task extracted by Bosun is correct and applicable before acting on it
- Ensuring maintenance is performed by suitably qualified persons where required
- Keeping your own independent records of all maintenance performed
- The content of any manuals or documents you upload to the Service
You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the Service.
Accuracy of Extracted Data
Bosun uses artificial intelligence to read and interpret PDF documents. While we strive for accuracy, AI-based extraction is inherently imperfect. We make no guarantee that:
- All maintenance tasks will be identified or extracted
- Extracted intervals, part numbers, torque specifications, or procedures are correct
- The Service will correctly interpret non-standard, damaged, or poorly formatted documents
You must always cross-reference any information provided by Bosun against the original manufacturer's documentation. The original manual is the authoritative source — Bosun is a convenience tool to help you organise it.
Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of the Service — including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, software, and design — are owned by Bosun and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You retain ownership of any manuals or documents you upload. By uploading content to the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of your documents and do not use them to train AI models without your consent.
Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to our collection and use of data as described in the Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
